Hotel Guest Reviews of the Tryp Times Square South

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Very clean room and very nice shower.
Vending machines were not working and I had to walk a block to get a bottle of soda since the hotel bar is pricey.

Street it is on is okay bet there is nothing on it. Police station right next door made it kind if loud and there seemed to be sirens for good portions of the night. However for the price and location it was worth it. 1 block from Penn Station.

The hotel had provided us with a wonderful experience in a modern and chic room. The staff truly elevated the experience and did what they could to help in any way with any concerns. Free & fast WiFi! A truly amazing room and overall great place to stay.
The floor had some dust on it which should have been cleaner; especially, since that dust got dragged up on the foot of the bed.

This hotel for what we expected provided a wonderful experience. The room we received at first was not the one we originally booked. This problem was addressed very efficiently and led to us receiving a wonderful room afterwards. They managed our concerns in a timely manner and made the experience for this couple's 3 year anniversary a pleasant one. We were provided with courteous help at every turn. Pros: good value for star rating, good location in city, safe area (next to police station), modern and chic design, wonderful and very helpful staff that catered to improve the guests experience, bathroom was clean and had very nice fixtures, nice decor, Free WIFI!!!, great value. Cons: cleanliness of floor was not great as there was a bit of dust which got dragged on to bed, difficult to hail a cab directly in front of hotel (if you walk to either end of block it's not an issue really). Overall a great hotel (for the value we received) with a wonderful staff and great experience. ...read more

The staff was very friendly and offered up an upgrade to a larger room because I arrived rather late.
No, the reviews I read prior to selecting this hotel were on point.

Great hotel and staff. You won't be disappointed with a stay at the Tryp! The location is very convenient to Penn Station and many of the local attractions. The rooms are very well appointed and clean. The decor is upbeat and current. I will definitely be staying here again.

We found the room space more than adequate. The wooden floors are easy to keep clean. The fact that there is no shower curtain means little opportunity of creating an inviting environment for mold and mildew. The staff was friendly and helpful.

The hotel offered a morning brunch buffet which was just adequate, certainly not great. However, if you're off to catch a plane, it's a welcome convenience. We loved the coffee pot in the room; the friendly, helpful staff; and the pristine condition of the room as we entered. The shower has a half glass wall with a circular cut-out through which one can reach for toiletries. I did not like that aspect because the shower area, without a curtain, is cold, and I think that large circular opening contributed to that. I did not miss the curtain because I like a shower area that is easy to keep mold/mildew free. The location is convenient, very close to the A/C/E subway and to Penn Station; however it is on a street that seems a little deserted, just west of 8th Ave.The location of the safe in the upper closet makes it impossible to hang a pair of trousers or even a jacket. All in all, this was a great stay, and we would definitely return. ...read more

This hotel was centrally located, clean, and welcoming. The subway was at the end of the street which made getting around the city a breeze.
There wasn't enough literature in the room about the offerings at the hotel. I would have liked a brochure about the fitness center and a menu from the restaurant. As a result I didn't use either of these amenities.

Very clean and modern hotel close to the subway. A perfect spot for seeing the city. The hotel is directly next door to a police station so safety wasn't an issue. Street noise can be an issue during the day but nighttime was quiet for the most part. The rooms were spacious, well kept, and very new. The floors are wood, which helps to keep the rooms clean. The beds were very comfortable and the pillows were full and soft. There is a Keurig coffee maker in the room with a small supply of coffee and tea. The bathroom was a bit awkward, and might be cramped for a larger person, but I didn't have a problem. The zero% toiletries were excellent, and the shower was clean with great water pressure. The doors to the rooms are very loud when they close so if the other guest on your floor are coming and going a lot the noise could be an issue. The heating/cooling system didn't seem to be working right as we were never able to get it down below 74 in our room. I didn't try the fitness center, bar, or restaurant as there was little information about them in my room (no menu, hours, or list of offerings) and I didn't have much time to investigate myself. For the right price I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.. ...read more
