Montana Travel Guide

The “big sky” state of Montana is an outdoor adventurer's dream come true. This state is filled to the brim with skiing, hiking, fly-fishing, sightseeing, and white water rafting. Ranked the third state in the country for the most micro-breweries per capita, Montana provides visitors not only with a palate pleasing cuisine but with many choices for lodging. History paints a picture of Montana as a vast plains land ideal for cattle grazing and agriculture, mountains covered with construction worthy lumber and mineral rich soils. As time progressed, Montanans have looked to other means for survival, though still depend on ranching and lumber to some degrees, federally mandated Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks and the construction of interstate highways have made the state much more accessible to tourism.

Visitors to Montana have several different regions to discover and explore. Most likely the Yellowstone Country is top of the list. Bozeman and Red Lodge are two hip towns within this region and provide college students, families and leisure seeking tourists with a wide range of hotels, motels, and lodges. The accommodations in these towns make them easy stops along the way to the famous Yellowstone National Park and it's star; Old Faithful. Another popular location is Russell Country, named for an eclectic artist, the region is peppered with hot springs ready for the eager tourist as well as homey Bed and Breakfasts, Cabins, hotels, and Guest Ranches. This area also marks one of the most critical sections of the Lewis and Clark expedition. Scenic and geologically challenging, Russell County is rugged and beautiful, making it the perfect backdrop for a romantic escape.

Glacier County holds, as you may expect, Glacier National Park as well as a few charming little cities like Missoula, Whitefish and Kalispell. Native Indian culture prevails in the midst of the American modern culture as the Flathead and Blackfeet welcome visitors onto their land to join in celebrations. Aside from, Glacier Country also provides incredible ski slopes and the trout fishing is remarkable as well. Visitors may sleep under the stars, or choose from a variety of motels, Bed and Breakfasts or rental condos available with many accommodations to make trips to this inspiring landscape a memorable one.
