Texas Travel Guide

When most hear the word Texas, they think, “everything is bigger in Texas”, and that may be true for not only is it the second largest state in the country, but it's also the hub of cattle, oil, and wind energy production. Texas is so big that visitors should plan on driving both within and between cities. Luckily for all road weary tourists there is a plethora of accommodations in every big or small town. In 1901 the discovery of rich oil fields located throughout the state helped Texas to develop higher education institutions. While education is still a priority, today, Texans are most likely known outside the state for their unique accents and passionate fixation with football.

Visitors have no fear, you don't need to be filled with football or rodeo frenzy to want to travel here. Texas is not only rich in oil, but in history, architecture, music and shopping. Tourists may find themselves in a variety of cities such as Austin. Located in central Texas, Austin is a growing city that is famously known as the “Live Music Capital of the World”. While here visitors have a variety of lodging options and just before bed tourists should visit North America's largest Mexican bat colony residing under one of the city's bridges. If it's business that brings people to Texas, they're most likely to visit either Austin, Houston, or Dallas as all have computer and technology headquarters based there. Then again, families may find Houston on their top 10 list of places to go since the NASA headquarters and space center are located there. Houston really does have it all, great food, entertainment, and commerce, and no matter who stops in, Houston has top of the line, contemporary lodging at rates that work for most budgets.

Dallas has a lot more to offer those who travel into the city limits than just commerce. There's a surplus of things to do in this town and while downtown provides great business accommodations, families and leisure seeking tourists may want to stay closer to the airport where there are kid-friendly hotels, budget rated motels and more; all conveniently located near amusement parks. While in Texas, visitors might as well take the time to make it all the way south to El Paso. On the Mexican border, this quirky little town has an effervescent culture and history. After checking in at any of the charismatic hotels, motels or hostels, visitors may stroll the streets and shop among a variety of Mexican flavored boutiques. San Antonio, another southern city, is a great destination for romance along the Riverwalk or for history buffs at the Alamo. Guests here may stay at any of the provided lodging either along the Riverwalk or slightly further away at some more affordable accommodations. Whatever the reason for traveling to Texas, just make sure you travel big!
