Hotel Guest Reviews of the Vintage Plaza, A Kimpton Hotel
Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.May 17, 2013

This hotel is conveniently located to downtown shopping and dining. The front desk staff was great and the lobby were comfortable.

Location was great. There is street parking around the area, or a parking lot across the street for a cheaper price. They did not clean our room, so when we came back the 2nd night, it was still the way we left it. The hotel will give you a $5 credit if you indicate you do not need housekeeping. We didn't opt for that, but still our room was not cleaned. It was late at night, and we didn't bother calling for housekeeping at 11pm. When we checked out, the front desk did not offer any compensation or credit at all. All they said was that we should've called them last night to let them know and they would've cleaned the room for us. In addition, the fridge was not working, so the cheese we bought was warm the next day. Again, I noted it to the front desk during checkout. All they said was "we will ask our engineer to look into it". There was no compensation for our cheese nor any credit offer if we were to stay another time. I was expecting a lot more for a 4 star hotel. I've Pricelined many different hotels around and have never had a bad experience except for this hotel. Compared to other 4 star hotels, this one is by far the worst experience in terms of service. ...

It was just OK for a 4 star hotel. Nothing great. Very expensive valet parking and wifi. Restaraunt and bakery were just OK.

I phoned the concierge member Cindy, upon entering our room, as we had paid an extra $25 per night to have a city view room, but were given an inward facing room with a tiny window with no view. I had expressed that it was our 7 year anniversary and both of our birthdays (my birthday was the day we checked in), we had also driven 5.5 hours from VAncouver BC and were hoping to be well looked after. When I expressed my disappointment with Cindy, she abruptly said 'none of our rooms have a view, so if you paid more on priceline for a cityview room, it's a scam, and hung up'. She did not even offer to give us at least an outward facing room and nor did she apologise that I did not get what I had paid for. Upon check out I was also charged for mini-bar (only noticed when I checked my credit card statement) and we did NOT have anything from the mini bar. I call the hotel once we were back in Vancouver, and she promised to put it back on my card. Seems dodgey that they took $11 off my credit card, and I wonder if they do that with everyone who checks out to make a little extra cash. Besides Cindy, everyone else was helpful, especially the bellmen. I wont recommend this hotel however because I felt the service was severely lacking. ...

Staff was professional and friendly, but a bit laid back. The problem with our power going out was addressed, but the first person couldn't figure it out and had to call maintenance. The coffee provided downstairs was good, but the complimentary wine each evening was barely adequate. It wouldn't hurt to put out some cheese or crackers. The biggest issue was with our bathroom: due to moisture buildup, fixtures were rusty and the (small) passive ventilation system didn't seem to circulate any air at all. The rooms were pretty clean, but I didn't appreciate the housekeeper knocking on our door at 8 am one morning (no, the "privacy" sign wasn't up, but still)...you'd think she'd know which rooms were occupied, and that 8 am is too early to start cleaning. ...
