Hotel Guest Reviews of the W Austin
Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.May 30, 2013

This hotel was great, we got there a little early and they let us checked in! The staff was supper friendly and the best part was the partnership with acura ... they take wherever you want within a five mile radius. Great service.

The hotel was even nicer than I had anticipated. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We didn't spend much time at the hotel because there were so many places we wanted to go in Austin but it was the perfect place to come back to. We arrived at the hotel early for check in and although a room wasn't ready, they checked our bags for us so we could go walk around downtown. They also checked our bags for us when we had to check out but our flight wasnt until later in the day. To save a little money, we chose to get around Austin by bus. There were very convenient bus stops located close to the hotel. A 24-hour pass only cost $2. We were able to travel to all of the places we wanted to see with ease. The bus also took us to and from the airport. For our 4 day stay, transportation cost us $4 per person. ...

Bring a portable hotspot. Great hotel otherwise, but lack of basic hotel 'courtesies' like free wifi or even wired Internet, and no complementary breakfast is enough to have me consider a budget hotel, even for a great deal. Amenities are everything.

This is a very trendy hotel in the middle of downtown. Very nice and modern public spaces and sleeping rooms. Guests that are looking for more traditional decor may be a bit surprised at the avant-garde design and furnishings. In general a very comfortable stay.

So upon check-in we were of course excited to be at the W Hotel. I valeted my car and the guys were quick and very helpful. I was informed that I could pull my car in and out as often as I'd like or of course take advantage of the Acura to drive you around. We walked in to check-in and obviously I picked the wrong person to check-in with. This blonde girl greeted me and asked for my ID. I explained to her that I do not travel with credit, and that I would pay the incidentals deposit with cash. My hotel room was prepaid. She told me that she couldn't do that. She said it was a Starwood policy not to take cash. I asked why and she said that it was policy and I would need to speak with a manager. So I asked for the manager. She picked up the phone and just stared at me. About 10 seconds later she puts the phone down and says the manager is on the way. Five minutes go by and no manager shows up. I ask the check-in girl where the manager is and she says she must be busy. So I explain again how all I have is the cash and my debit card. I don't want to use the debit card since they hold the money for 7 days. I then tell her I can't add the money to my card either since the bank is closed on Sunday. The black gentleman behind her snaps at me that they don't take cash and to get over it. I said well my room is paid, I don't have the credit card, so what do I do. The girl retorts, "Don't stay here!" So I walk out of the lobby and luckily my mother allowed me to put the hold on her credit card. I went back to the desk, got everything taken care of, and headed up to my room. The person I was with was extremely embarrassed by the situation and too uncomfortable to walk back past the desk while that girl was still there. Later in the evening I went to ask what the policy is and was told that they do in fact accept cash for the deposits. So I was embarrassed and hassled for close to an hour before I got into my room for no reason at all. ...
