Business Traveler
Overall happy that I ended up at the W for a 3 day conference at the San Diego Convention Center. The hotel and Convention Center are both located right along the trolley line, and I could usually travel between them in 10 minutes or so. The hotel itself is fine if you go for post modern hipness. If you don't, it can feel a bit pretentious. The room was small, but clean and comfortable. Internet was $15 per day.

Business Traveler
This was my first stay at a 'W' hotel. There's a completely different feel about it. The staff, from the concierge to the front desk to the wait staff in the restaurant, were welcoming. It made all the difference. It's sort of like the difference between an Apple iPhone and a Blackberry, the 'W' hotel being an Apple. I might add that I also appreciated the architectural finishes, e.g, the walk-in shower with the hole in the glass permitting one to turn on the water without actually getting wet!

Family Traveling with Young Children
We traveled with our 1 and 2 year old children. I would not say this was a hotel well suited for kids. The wireless Internet was the most expensive of the 3 hotels we stayed in during our trip, and there was no local parking to speak off so we were forced to pay the $35/night for valet. The staff did try to make our kids comfortable and the concierge recommended some excellent restaurants. ...

Family Traveling with Teens
As a very prolific Priceline user, I've had my share of good and bad experiences. This is by far the absolute best hotel staff and a very fine hotel that I've experienced to date. The restaurant is under renovation, but the location is so close to both Gaslamp and Little Italy that it was no inconvenience whatsoever. The management and staff did an outstanding job in taking care of me and my family. Thanks for making the land part of our vacation so outstanding! By the way, our Cruise was booked through PL as well, and it exceeded all of our expectations.

I ended up spending.
The hotel was nice enough and is in a good area. However when you check in the hotel charges you a deposit that is not explained to you when you check in. After a phone call they tell you that it comes back within 3-5 business days. Well i stayed there on a Wednesday, now its the follow Monday, I don't have the deposit back and my vacation is over tomorrow. Good thing i already bought my return tickets. So if you can afford essentially paying double for this hotel than what you originally pay then its worth it. however if you cant STAY AWAY!! ...
