Hotel Guest Reviews of the The Westin San Diego Gaslamp Quarter

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

Great rooms, renovated restaurant and lobby area. Good place to stay with family, Horton Plaza is nearby...

The bed and linens were very comfortable. The staff all were very pleasant and couldn't have been more helpful. I also loved the magnification mirror the bathroom was equipped with.
Some of the room's features needed repair. The bathroom sink handle dripped on the counter when the faucet was on and the pocket door was hard to close and rubbed. There did not appear to be any movies available for purchase on the television.

All things considered, we really enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect. Everything was within walking distance. Restaurants, a mall, entertainment. It's all available. The staff was incredibly helpful and pleasant. The bed was like a cloud. Soft linens and soft pillow top was perfect.

The location is basically at Horton Plaza, immediately adjacent to the Gaslamp and 2 blocks away from the House of Blues. No taxi needed!
$36 a day for valet parking.

The hotel is tucked nicely into the front of the Horton Plaza shopping center and is within walking distance of many attractions. It literally sits in the Gaslamp Quarter, and is less than 10 minutes walking distance to the House of Blues, Midway, Embarcadero and Petco Park. You do not even need to take your car or hire a taxi to get anywhere in downtown. The area is safe, and gets safer as you walk toward the water. The bellman recommended "Richard Walkers Pancake House" for breakfast. It is on Front Street and was about 5 minutes away. The food was great! Our room was very modern and the hotel was super clean. I've stayed at many hotels in San Diego, but this one is the most centrally located. For the most part, I only book SD hotels through Priceline, and really hope this hotel gets selected the next time I stay. ...read more

Overall, a clean, well kept hotel.`
Please be advised there are two Westins in downtown San Diego located on the same street. One has complimentary shuttle service from the hotel and the other does not. Don't make the assumption you'll have transportation as this hotel doesn't.

I would rate this hotel higher, but the fact the hotel doesn't provide transportation is a minus. It's easy to assume as there are two Westin's on the same street, so make sure you pick the right one.

Nice, upscale hotel.
While it is technically located in the Gaslamp Quarter, it is several blocks away from the real center of the neighborhood.

The room was nice & that was all that we liked !
First we felt like we were out of place & were treated like dirt ! The refrigerator in the room didn't work & there was no water pressure in the shower!the A/C would not stay on! on off all night long! lets just say we will not trust a 4 star Hote

I will not trust a Westin Hotel again ! just felt like it is all about the money and Status and not making the guest feel welcome! Also no off street parking ! 36.00 a night!! The westin could learn alot if they checked into this hotel under cover ! it was all looks & no personal attion to the guest at hand! It was a let down for my girlfriends birthday ! so much for taking her to a 4 star hotel! Send them to a Choice Hotel to see how guest should be treated!Next time Ill stay home in Vegas!!! ...read more

Completely loved this hotel. Staff was super friendly, service was quick and efficient, location was absolutely wonderful. Didn't have any problems with this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The valet parking... $36 a night? Yuck.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Westin for four days and three nights, and we absolutely enjoyed our entire stay. The staff at the hotel was very helpful and friendly, from a complimentary arrangement for our anniversary to the quick room service. Our room was very nice thanks to a room upgrade to the city view (which was AMAZING!) and the room amenities were wonderful, noting the massage-style shower. We couldn't have asked for a better location, being only a 5-minute walk to the Horton Plaza, less than 10-minute walk to the Gaslamp District, and a 10-minute drive to Seaport Village and Little Italy. Although we didn't swim, the pool was nice with a small city view on the third floor. We loved the on-site fitness center and, although a little cramped, the hot tub felt amazing. The only issue was the valet parking at $36 a night, which we expected out of a nice hotel... but, here's a trick for the future. Next to the NBC building, there is street sweeping Tues.-Thurs. so no parking on the street 3 a.m.- 6 a.m., BUT Fri.-Mon. you can park in the 15-minute 8-6 zones over night without getting a ticket (you just need to move your car by 8:15). We tried this for one night with success. The valet staff from ACE Parking, who work with the Westin and were equally as helpful and friendly, also mentioned that you can park in the structure off 4th and F Street over night for $10 by mentioning to the garage staff that you're a Westin guest. We would love to stay at the hotel again and look forward to our next trip. Thank you again! ...read more

The hotel had a nice patio area.
Our group had booked 4 rooms and we requested king size rooms. Only 2 rooms were able to get the requested king size rooms. I also tried to upgrade to a suite room and it was not available.

Helpful staff
Deliberately stringy/restricted volume of water that came from the shower made it impossible to take a satisfying shower. This hotel is fine if you are happy with a bath.

Staff was very nice, good location and nice room. But,you will need to bring your own shower water or put up with the very very "restricted" amount that they allow. And parking is an additional $36.00/night.
