Hotel Guest Reviews of the Whitehall Hotel

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

Only one working elevator. Took over 30 minutes to get down from the 15th floor as elevator could only accomodate 8 people each trip. Would never stay there again. Elevator was nonfunctioning for over 24 hours and the staff had no backup plan or resolution

The location was great. The staff from the front desk to the bellmen and car parking were all exceptional.
The televisions were antiques. I have not seen a "tube" television in a hotel room in years and they were small at that. There were no down pillows on the beds. Surprising for this category of hotel.

Great location with an outstanding staff to make the stay welcome and comfortable. Michigan Avenue shops and restaurants just steps away and the nightlife on Rush street just steps away in the opposit direction. You couldn't ask for more.

The location was great. Staff was very hospitable.
The view from our room was a back ally. There was no coffee maker in the room. Did not think that a room with just a bed, a bathroom, and a tv would be so expensive, but I guess I payed for thelocation.

Beautiful restored old building into boutique hotel, location and staff were great. The king superior room was average for the high-price. Comfortable bed, clean bathroom.

The rooms were clean and the location was excellent.
The staff was extremely rude. There aren't any ice machines in the hotel, so if you are a guest and you want ice, you must call the front desk. After two calls for ice, the head of security called to inform me that we couldn't have any more ice!

I will not be returning to this hotel. I was amazed at how rude and unorganized the hotel staff were. There was only one employee there who seemed to know what he was doing and he was the front desk clerk who checked me in, otherwise, the place is run by people who have no clue how to operate a hotel. I reserved two rooms under my name and had there were 6 women total staying in the two rooms. We did not violate any hotel policies or rules, yet the head of security called the room to inform me that we could not make any noise and we were not allowed to have any more ice. For a hotel that doesn't have ice machines, I was confused as to why myself and those I was staying with were denied access to ice!!?? The head of security also threated me over the phone saying that if we made any noise at all, we would be kicked out and my credit card would not be refunded. When I checked out, I asked if it was standard policy to have guests threatened and treated like a group of children. No one knew what I was talking about and they acted like I was making up the entire situation. As for the staff in the restaurant, look out. They spill coffee on people and drop dishes full of food on the floor. The whole experience was a nightmare. ...read more

Location was great. The staff was friendly and very helpful.
The web site is misleading. There is NO continental breakfast at all. Parking should also be disclosed on the web site-for a person's budgeting pupose. The beds were hard and uncomfortable.

This is hotel truely for a business trip or a family with older (15+) children. It is a clean hotel with a great location for a downtown Chicago experience. We parked the car in the valet parking and left it there. We used the train system to get around town-which is the only way to go. We did not spend much time there-not any activties such as a pool, as we understood from the web site. The beds were hard as a rock! Our backs ached from lying on them! The pillows were comfortable though. The customer service was great, we requested extra towels and they were brought to us within 10 minutes. As I said before this hotel definately caters to a business person or a group of people (15+) that is in town to "do the town of Chicago." ...read more

I had a great rate, the location was fantastic! Had a great time in Chicago. Thanks for everything! Concierge was great too!
no.

Rooms were quiet. I like that they had a "no party" rule, so we adults can get some sleep :-). Nice staff as well. Clean. I'd stay there again for sure. Thanks Whitehall

I loved the location. It was very close to the Hancock building, walking distance to lots of shops, restaurants and bars.
The parking was expensive ($50 for 24 hours) and so was the hotel restaurant. The TV in the room was about 20 years too old, it did not work very well.

I would stay here again. The room was very clean, the bed was very comfortable, and it had everything I needed. Mini fridge, hair dryer, good quality towels, good lighting in the bathroom, good blinds to keep the room dark for sleeping. The staff was also very friendly. The doorman recommended local bars and check-in and check-out were both quick and convenient.
